  Product Lines: Universal Suspension Systems

RCC has several suspension systems designed and engineered to function under many different cars. Our front suspension system uses Mustang II suspension geometry. The rear suspension system is a unique combination of Ford 9 inch center section with GM front wheel drive half shafts and hubs. Our 3 link system was designed for the Mustang II leaf spring system but can be adapted to any rear leaf spring system for conversion to coilovers.

  Universal Independent Front Suspension System

RCC has an independent front suspension system that is based on the Mustang II geometry and uses a one piece crossmember for simplified installation. This system uses RCC's unique patented Strutless Adjustable Lower Control Arm and coilovers to provide the best ride with maximum alignment adjustment. Many of the crossmembers are comprised of 5 different pieces which must be installed in proper relation to each other for proper operation. Even the simpler crossmembers still have 3 pieces which provide 3 times the number of opportunities for a mistake in installation. The design of our system also allows you to have a say in the height you install it at, which will have an impact on ride height, fender clearance, etc. The one piece crossmember will fit any frame up to 32.5 inches wide.

  Independent Rear Suspension System

RCC designed, engineered, and developed an Independent Rear Suspension System (IRS) for Replica's, Street Rods, and other Specialty Cars which uses the 9 inch Ford 3rd member gear components in a custom housing which is mated to Tornado half shafts and hubs. The brakes may be either inboard or outboard at the hub/spindle. Either brake system uses 11 inch vented rotors with parking brake style calipers. The system uses both upper and lower control arms so the only load on the half shafts is the operational torque load. Both upper and lower control arms may be shimmed for alignment plus we also have adjustments for pinion angle. For maximum flexibility, we use coilovers (one per side).

We believe that our IRS offers the best of components with the versatile and tough Ford gears and the durable and tough Tornado half shafts which should handle horsepower up to 650 hp. Custom Ford axles extend from our custom 3rd member housing and attach to the Tornado half shafts.

Independent rear suspension will improve both performance handling and street rides. The reduced unsprung weight and the ability of each wheel to move independently of the other are the primary causes of these improvements.

  3 Link Rear Suspension System

RCC developed a 3 link rear suspension system to eliminate the leaf spring rear used by the Mustang II and convert to superior coilovers. The system uses one tubular arm for each side which attaches to the front leaf spring mount at the frame and the spring mounting pads at the axle. The axle is kept centered with a panhard type rod that attaches to the inner right frame rail and the rear of the left axle mount. The coilover attaches to the rear of the axle mount and the frame. Installation requires 2 holes be drilled in the frame for the upper coilover mount and right frame rail mount for the panhard rod. No cutting or welding is required. With adequate customer supplied dimensions, this system can be used to replace other leaf spring applications. This system provides urethane bushings for reduced suspension movement, eliminates axle wrap on acceleration or braking, and provides coilovers for spring rate selection and ride height adjustment.
